BREAKING: President Buhari Approves Pharmacy Council Bill
Prof. Cyril Usifoh

President Muhammadu Buhari has given assent to the long-awaited Pharmacy Council of Nigeria Bill, says the President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Prof. Cyril Usifoh on Monday.

Pharmanewsonline reports that the PSN and PCN leadership have been on a long discourse of seven years with the Presidency on the importance of the bill, which they averred will enhance proper regulation of the pharmaceutical industry.

Announcing the approval of the Bill in a statement made available to Pharmanewsonline, Usifoh explained the implication of the assent, saying it introduces a new PCN Act to regulate and control Pharmacy practice in Nigeria.

He said: “Dear colleagues, it is with deep appreciation to God that I announce the Presidential assent of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria Bill by H.E President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR.

“It has been a tortuous journey since 2015 when the PSN and the registry of PCN initiated meaningful development geared toward the actualisation of the PCN Act”.

The PSN helms man used the opportunity to appreciate all who contributed to the actualization of the feat, such as the Immediate Past Registrar, PCN, Dr N.A.E Mohammed, and the incumbent Registrar Pharm I.B Ahmed, for the diligent roles they played.

He also acknowledged the efforts of chairmen of the technical groups and NEC, who gave express support in all ramifications to his administration since 2021 he assumed office.
