Nigeria Records 37 New COVID-19 Infections Amidst #ENDSARS Protest

As the #ENDSARS peaceful protest takes a new dimension in the country with sporadic shootings across the nation since Tuesday night, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has reported 37 new cases Wednesday.

Although the agency failed to put up any report for Tuesday night without explanation, it came up with 37 new infections for Wednesday from nine states.

This makes the tally of infected people in the country rose to 61,667 since onset of the disease on 27 February 2020.

The agency through its website disclosed that 183 patients were discharged after testing negative to the virus across the country.

According to new data obtained from the agency, eight of the new cases were recorded in the FCT, seven in Lagos, five cases each in Taraba and Rivers.

While Adamawa recorded four cases, Kaduna had three, Anambra and Osun reported two cases each and Ogun confirmed one case.

The also tweeted from its Verified Twitter handle thus : :On the 21st of October 2020, 37 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria

“Till date, 61667 cases have been confirmed, 56880 cases have been discharged and 1125 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory”.

It revealed progress made so far from the ongoing #COVID19 Household Seroprevalence Survey, which aims to better understand the burden of #COVID19 infection in the country.

The NCDC tweeted: “Ongoing activities include household sample collection for #COVID19 testing and treatment for malaria patients diagnosed in selected states”
