Nigeria Records 457 New Confirmed Cases of COVID-19, 17 Deaths, Total 44,890

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in its daily update posted on its website, said there were 457 new cases taking the total number of recorded cases to 44,890, NCDC said these had led to 927 deaths in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Making the disclosure via its Twitter handle, the NCDC said: “As at 11:45 pm 5th of August 2020, 457 new confirmed cases and 17 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

To date, 44,890 cases have been confirmed, 32,165 cases have been discharged and 927 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. A total of 304,221 tests have been carried out as of August 3rd, 2020 compared to 289,133 tests a day earlier.

According to the NCDC, the 457 new cases were reported from 21 states- Lagos (137), FCT (76), Plateau (40), Rivers (35), Enugu (34), Oyo (25), Abia (23), Delta (12), Ebonyi (11), Edo (11), Cross River (10), Kwara (10), Kaduna (9), Anambra (7), Ogun (5), Bauchi (3), Imo (3), Nasarawa (2), Osun (2), Ekiti (1), Kano (1).

Meanwhile, the latest numbers bring Lagos state total confirmed cases to 15,551, followed by Abuja (4,163), Oyo (2,807), Edo (2,328), Rivers (1,894), Kano (1,599), Delta (1,541), Kaduna (1,507), Ogun (1,416), Plateau (1,283), Ondo (1,243), Enugu (880), Ebonyi (819), Kwara (800), Katsina (746), Borno (628), Abia (625), Gombe (620), Osun (586), and Bauchi (568).
