Nigerian Rotarians Celebrate their Past District Governor, Prince Juli

It was an exhilarating and thrilling moment for Prince Julius Adelusi – Adeluyi, the founder and Chairman of Juli Plc, as the Nigerian Rotarians of District 9110 came together to hold a virtual birthday celebration for his 80th birthday on Saturday.

Hosted by Rotarian Omotunde Lawson, who welcomed all participants to the occasion and also noted the importance of the celebrant.

He said: “This event is brought together to appreciate our past District Governor, Juli like we all call him, an amiable gentleman per excellence, he has more knowledge, he speaks rotary and also speaks more language than anyone in this house.”

He said Fellow Rotarians in Nigeria, Africa, West Africa, and all over the world are willing to celebrate him when he clocks 85, 90 and 95
Speaking on the personality of Juli, PDG Niyi Raji said I want to say a big thank you to my friend and my brother, I have known Juli for a while, he has been a pillar of support to every president in the club. His word of advice has been invaluable and he has been extremely supportive to the club every year.

Dr Jide Akeredolu also read his special tribute to the celebrant as he narrated their beautiful experience together.

“PDG Juli and his wife Julian have hosted the club in their home, at his age he is ever present at every function and at most meetings, we have some clubs where old people no longer participate, PDG Juli is very different, he has been solidly behind us every year, it gives me a great pleasure to congratulate him and to ask him the secret behind his youthfulness”.

PDG Niyi Raji also said he has known Prince Juli since 1984 when he joined the Rotary Club and since then Juli has been an inspiration to him and many Rotarians.

He also added that it has been a great honour to give him a tribute on this special occasion, adding that it is an opportunity to thank God on his exemplary life and to also specially tell Prince Juli of how much blessing he has been to Rotary and so many people.

Omo Oba Boye Ogunlaja a special friend of the celebrant said Prince Juli has made life so simple for every Rotarians.

“He is a perfect gentleman; I am going to take it from two angle. Juli the Rotarian and Juli the perfect gentleman, in 1977/1978, Juli was the Rotary President and that was when the Rotary Club took another turn.

He ensured that everything was done in order, with him there is no sluggishness”.

Responding to all the commendations, the Past District Governor Prince Juli appreciated Rotarians for the wonderful programme in celebration of his 80th birthday.

He said God Almighty has made today possible, and also wants to specially thank distinguish people who have gathered here ‘zoomically’, I will like to appreciate all of you, I believe that Rotary has established itself.

“Permit me in recognition of the first and only president of the amazing club, Jonathan Babatunde Majiyagbe and also I will like to appreciate my dear brother and friend Yinka, who is the vice president of the Rotary club.

“I want to thank Bola Oyebade for leading Rotary in the right place, we were there since the days of analog and now you have brought the digital world, very effective and also very efficient.

Admonishing the Rotarians, he said Rotary should challenge you to arrive at better version of yourself, adding that the club should let you recognize why you are on this earth because what will matter is not the material acquisition of wealth.

“On the day of judgement questions like how much wealth did you acquire won’t be asked but how much service did you provide for your neighbor”.

“I have heard many say may you live long and get to 90 some are saying 100, but I must say that we must know that a long life is not good enough but a good life is long enough, we must pray for a good life full of service to mankind,” He said.

In attendance at the birthday celebration were: Pastor Ade Popoola, Dr Lolu Ojo, Pharm. Ifeanyi Atueyi, managing director, Pharmanews, Prof. Chinedum Babalola, vice-chancellor, Chrisland University.
