Ondo Confirms New COVID-19 Case, Begins Contact Tracing

The Ondo State government says it has confirmed another coronavirus infection, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to four.

Commissioner for health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro while confirming the latest case to Radio Nigeria in Akure, the Ondo state capital said the patient, a male, was now at the Infectious disease Hospital Akure for treatment.

Dr Adegbenro explained that the patient was picked from the federal medical center Owo after presenting with COVID-19 related symptoms and later tested positive to the disease.

Dr Adegbenro noted that contact tracing of the patient had begun to prevent community transmission, especially in Owo.

The latest infection now brings to twenty-five the total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Ondo state since February, nineteen have been discharged, four active cases and two death.
