In it’s quest to rid Ekiti State of illegal premises, quackery and unethical practice, the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) has sealed off no fewer than two hundred and fifty patent medicine stores and twelve pharmacies for unwholesome practice.

Addressing press men in Ado Ekiti, the Registrar of the council,  Pharm. Elijah Muhammed highlighted some of the offences of those sanctioned to include operating without registration with the Council, failure to renew premises license, poor storage and sanitary conditions and dispensing sensitive drugs without the supervision of a pharmacist.

Muhammed who spoke through the Director of Enforcement, Mr Steven Esunmobi added that the affected outlets cut across various local government areas of the state.

He explained that six patent medicine vendors who broke the seal of the council were arrested and would be charged to court after due investigation.

The PCN Registrar however appealed to members of the public to always purchase their medicines from licensed pharmacies in the interest of their health.
