It was a moment of honour for the Online Editor of Pharmanews Ltd, Temitope Obayendo, on Monday, when the leadership of the Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPs) National, visited the corporate head office of the publishing firm in Lagos, to celebrate the recipient of the PSN Journalist of the Year 2022 Award. The ALPs National Chairman, Pharm (Mrs) Scholastica Lan, was accompanied by the National Publicity Secretary, Pharm. (Mrs) Hafsah Ameen-Ikoyi, for the felicitation visit.

Speaking on the essence of their visit, Pharm Lan, said it was the unanimous decision of her executives to pay a courtesy visit to Pharmanews Ltd in order to celebrate Obayendo, on the PSN Award conferred on her last year, having been a dedicated journalist to the affairs of the association. It was also an avenue to appreciate the Managing Director and Publisher of Pharmanews, Pharm. (Sir) Ifeanyi Atueyi, for allowing her use the medium for the purpose.

Pharm. Lan described Obayendo as a very committed journalist to the course of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and ALPs, who has consistently reported and published the activities of the association over the years, both nationally and on state levels, without any course to renege.

She has been a strong support system for ALPs over the years, in the coverage and reportage of our activities, nationally and locally. For many years now, I have observed her commitment to the association, as she does her work with high level of professionalism and diligence. So we saw the conferment of the PSN Journalist of the Year 2022 Award, as a well-deserved recognition and honour for her.

“We also want to appreciate Sir Atueyi, for giving her the platform to publish the reports, because without the medium, there would have been no means of publishing our reports.  Therefore, we see the honour as a great win for Obayendo as well as Pharmanews, and we pray that God will strengthen her to do more for the association.

“We actually planned to do her this honour since last year but my non-availability in Lagos delayed it till this time. I am very excited that ALPs National was able to make this felicitation visit to our very own Obayendo and Pharmanews Ltd as a whole”.

Receiving the ALPs executives, Pharm. Atueyi thanked them for coming all the way in felicitation with Obayendo, who has tremendously improved her career over the years since she joined the organisation more than ten years ago. As the Online Editor, he said she has been introducing new ideas in expanding the reach and improving the brand.

He acknowledged that the organisation is particularly fortunate in having dedicated and loyal staff, because when people say Pharmanews is doing well, it is not a reflection of the building’s performance but rather a reflection of the dedication of the employees. We all work towards the same objectives and goals, which help us progress and support the company, which in turn attempts to do everything within its power to support them.

“We appreciate your courtesy visit. Obayendo has been doing well; she has been undergoing a number of capacity development programmes recently. I remember her condition 15 years ago when she joined Pharmanews, but now, she has developed herself.

“She is the brain behind the Pharmanewsonline services, as you are well aware of how popular online publications are now. The transition to online publications has been fantastic across the world, as I was just sharing this morning, our NAPharm induction ceremony publication on my social platforms.

“Thank you for being so generous with your time, for coming early this morning for this visit, I appreciate it” he said.

Responding to the kind gestures of the ALPs leadership, Obayendo expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the congratulatory visit, saying she always sees every opportunity to cover ALPs events, as a means of advancing the course of women and girls’ health, which is a way of contributing to national development.

She pledged her support to the association in the New Year, assuring them of her continuous commitment in bringing issues of women and girls’ rights to the front burner.

Obayendo said “I sincerely appreciate Pharm. Lan for traveling all the way from Benue State; Pharm. Ameen-Ikoyi, and the entire ALPs National Exco, for this great honour in celebrating my award. It’s my earnest prayers that the good Lord will recognise and elevate every one of you.

“As the year 2023 is just beginning, there are high hopes for improved collaboration on women and girls’ rights advocacy, with healthcare in general. It is also my expectation that as we work together, there will be evidenced growth and development in the profession, association, and Pharmanews Ltd.  Thank you very much for coming, I really appreciate the honour”.
