    Glycerol suppositories act as a rectal stimulant and may also have some
    lubricating and softening actions. It is useful in babies and children and acts
    within 15 to 30 minutes. Bisacodyl, sodium picosulfate and senna are stimu￾lant laxatives that are generally not preferred in children. However, they may
    be recommended by physicians in children to prevent recurrence of faecal
    impaction. Ispaghula Husk is a bulk-forming laxative that is not recommended
    for use in children under 6 years of age.
