UI Pharmacy Alumni Association Donates Minibus to Pharmacy Faculty UI

The Faculty of Pharmacy Alumni Association, University of Ibadan, Ibadan (FPAAUI) has donated a Toyota Sienna Minibus to the faculty.

The official presentation of the Toyota Sienna Minibus to the faculty was done at the Faculty of Pharmacy Complex, University of Ibadan on Thursday, 23 July, 2020,

The President of FPAAUI, Pharm. Lanre Tiamiyu expressed the need for alumni members to develop a sense of belonging to the development of their alma mata by giving back.

He appreciated the efforts of his team of executives, who have worked tirelessly to ensure the successful procurement of the Toyota Sienna Minibus, which is aimed at assisting the faculty in ensuring students monitoring during ward rounds and internship programmes, including Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme.

The Toyota Sienna Minibus, donated by the Faculty of Pharmacy Alumni Association, University of Ibadan, Ibadan (FPAAUI) to the Pharmacy Faculty, University of Ibadan.

In her speech, the Dean of Pharmacy, UI, Professor Oluwatoyin A. Odeku (FAS) appreciated the FPAAUI for the donation of the vehicle. She reiterated the various donations that the faculty has received since the 2013 rebranding of the FPAAUI.

Particularly, she mentioned that the donation of the vehicle will assist the faculty in the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) programme, which has been approved to commence in the next academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka (FAS), who was the chief host at the event, expressed his delight that the donation was happening within his last five months as the 12th Vice-Chancellor of the University.

He also spoke about the stakeholder role that the Alumni of the University of Ibadan has played and specifically appreciated Professor Elsie O. Adewoye, the President of UI Alumni Association worldwide for the efforts of the Parent Alumni Association in various projects in developing the University.


Other dignitaries present at the occasion include the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration UI, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, FAS, mni; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, UI- Prof. Adebola Ekanola, former Vice-Chancellor, Ajayi Crowther University, Prof. Kolawole T. Jaiyeoba (FPSN), Past Deans,  Heads of Departments and members of staff in the Faculty.

It will be recalled that the FPAAUI had supported the Faculty with the donation of the sum of N2.5 million to the faculty as substantive support towards procurement of a 30-seater coaster bus, participation in induction ceremonies and institution of UI Faculty of Pharmacy Alumni Prize for the best graduating student.

Other areas of support to the Faculty of Pharmacy FPAAUI has been involved are: donation towards the needs of the new Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and the giving of  the sum of N2 million naira made towards procurement of some faculty needs among other things.
