    Zanamivir is an antiviral agent used in influenza because it reduces replication
    of influenza A and B viruses by inhibiting the viral enzyme neuraminidase.
    It normally reduces the duration of symptoms by around 1–1.5 days.
    Zanamivir is not licensed for prophylaxis of influenza. It is indicated for the
    treatment of influenza and should be started within 48 h of the first symptoms.
    It is available as a dry powder for inhalation.
