– unveils logo of 90th PSN conference
The President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Pharm. Ahmed Yakasai has flayed the statement attributed to the NMA president, Dr Mike Ogirima, allegedly describing JOHESU as an ‘illegal body’, noting that those pronouncements are self-serving.
Yakasai, who was fielding questions from journalists, at a press conference organised for the upcoming 90th PSN conference, said that even though the NMA boss had been his friend for 30 years, he will not be part of such parochial self-serving views.
He stressed that the PSN was not advocating for inter-professional relationship due to weakness, but in the best interest of patients. The PSN, he said, want mutual respect and decorum as well as a fair system in the health sector.
Speaking with newsmen at the media parley also graced by Pharm. (Dr) Lolu Ojo, chairman, Conference Planning Committee (CPC) and Pharm. Gbolagade Iyiola, national secretary, PSN; Pharm. Yakasai said the PSN conference was always an opportunity to showcase the organisational capacity of the PSN – the oldest and best organised professional body in Nigeria.
The PSN helmsman noted that the choice of the theme for the PSN conference “Medicine Availability and National Security” was to illustrate how medicine availability was fundamental to national security.
The conference, he said, will thus further emphasise the need for government to create a friendly environment for the pharmaceutical sector of the economy and the security of the nation.
He disclosed further that over 5000 pharmacists and other scientists nationwide as well as over 250 pharmaceutical manufacturers will be at the conference holding in Umuahia, Abia State from 6th to 11th of November.
The PSN President, assisted by Dr Lolu Ojo, chairman, Conference Planning Committee (CPC) and other pharmacists unveiled the logo of the 90th PSN conference.
